Jean is a Korean-American therapist and coach who brings a unique perspective to parenting through her personal experience being raised by demanding immigrant parents and her professional background in psychology. After earning her B.S. in Economics at Caltech and working with at-risk youth, she pursued her M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy at Fuller Seminary. She completed her practicum as a child therapist under Glen Roberts and worked as a school-based therapist at Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services.
As a child therapist teaching parenting classes years before having my own children, I thought I had all the answers, but nothing prepared me for how my kids would trigger such intense emotions in me. I found myself pleading for someone to fix my own children’s behavior, convinced their actions were controlling my responses and damaging our relationship.
As I began a deeper journey of self-awareness, healing, and growth, I saw how self-defeating it was that I needed my kids to behave a certain way in order for me to feel okay. Turns out, my kids weren’t actually the decision-makers behind what was going on inside of me.
Every response was a choice I was making. And deep down, I knew that I couldn’t “fix” anyone else, including my kids. Rather, healing had to start with me. That’s why I created an interactive book that takes you on a journey through discovery and healing. My book, “Beautiful Rebellion,” combines artwork and imagery with effective exercises; an approach that opens up more accessible pathways to healing so you can pause, feel, reflect, grow and transform.

My one-on-one coaching sessions create a safe, supportive space for healing and growth. Together, we’ll explore how your past experiences and family patterns have shaped the way you think, feel, and relate to others. Through thoughtful guidance and evidence-based strategies, you’ll begin to release old narratives, heal from emotional wounds, and build the confidence to show up fully in your life and relationships.
Adolescence can be both exciting and overwhelming. My teen coaching sessions help young people navigate the challenges of identity, self-worth, and family dynamics with compassion and understanding. I provide teen clients with tools to manage emotions, communicate effectively, and build healthy habits—all while helping teens feel seen, heard, and empowered to grow into their authentic selves.
I’m grateful to collaborate with Secure Coaching: a group coaching program designed for clients to discover their true selves and experience growth and transformation. Secure Coaching goes beyond a one-on-one transformation by introducing women of a diverse and dynamic background who share the desire for more out of their lives. In community, healing becomes both deeper and more sustainable.
