Jean is a Korean-American therapist and coach who brings a unique perspective to parenting through her personal experience being raised by demanding immigrant parents and her professional background in psychology. After earning her B.S. in Economics at Caltech and working with at-risk youth, she pursued her M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy at Fuller Seminary. She completed her practicum as a child therapist under Glen Roberts and worked as a school-based therapist at Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services.
Jean is passionate about breaking cycles of generational trauma and moving beyond achievement-driven parenting. After pausing her career to raise her three sons (now 16, 14, and 12) and embarking on a year-long RV road trip with her family, she settled in New York City. There, she balances her practice with community work, including leading Abide Gathering, a community for Asian Christians, and serving on the advisory board for Young Life Global Cities.
Healing is not about others, it really is about you. That’s why my coaching style takes you on a journey through discovery and healing. What I’ve learned, both through my own childhood experiences and as a parent myself, is that correction without connection is like building a house without a foundation. It simply won’t stand. My workbook combines beautiful artwork and imagery with effective exercises; an approach that opens up more accessible pathways to healing so you can pause, feel, reflect, grow and transform.
